My favorite pizza dough recipe. It is very simple and requires only a few ingredients that are easy to find.
Prep Time30 minsTotal Time30 mins
2.25 tsp yeast (1 package)
1 cup warm water
23 cups flour (plus more, if necessary)
1.50 tsp salt
1.50 tbsp olive oil
1In a large bowl combine yeast, water, olive oil, and salt. Stir well to proof. Let sit for 5 minutes.
2Add 1 cup flour and mix well to thoroughly incorporate.
3Add an additional cup of flour and mix well with hands.
4Transfer dough to a lightly floured work surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, adding additional flour as necessary to maintain smooth, elastic dough. Dough should not be sticky.
5Transfer dough to another large, lightly oiled bowl and turn to coat completely. Cover with damp towel and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size. Usually takes at least an hour.
6Divide the dough into two even portions and form into balls. Place on a lightly oiled baking sheet and cover with a damp towel to rest for 15 minutes.
Dough can be stored in the refrigerator for later or used immediately.
