Wunderlist Woes

Work

Wunderlist

So today I began working early even though it is Sunday. Started putting together some To Do lists as a test of using Wunderlist. So far I’ve been taking a list the roommate has put together and transcribing it into the site. It seems that this app may well do the things we need. A way to set due dates, repeats, reminders, and track what we need done.

Obviously, this is just a test, so it may end up being wasted effort on a product we won’t use. I do get the feeling this will actually suit our needs though. The one gripe I have so far is that subtasks don’t allow more details to be added to them like main tasks. It’s possible that may be a limitation of the free aspect and paying for the service may allow it.

Delving deeper, it seems that there is no paid version of the app. There used to be a Pro version, but that was ended and all features rolled into the free version this past April. This is concerning . . . seems there is a plan to retire Wunderlist eventually, but no date given, with a promise “to give everyone plenty of notice.” That doesn’t sound good.

Further research indicates this is all due to Microsoft’s acquisition of the parent company. It seems that they intend to replace Wunderlist with their app To Do. I really don’t like the idea of switching over to another Office 365 based application. I hate the way Microsoft makes changes to their functionality and UI.

Reading

I’ve spent a good deal of time reading more today, still the same as yesterday, Strange Cosmology, the sequel to Small Worlds. This is my issue with reading, when I start I never want to stop. It kind of consumes me a little bit. I’m happy that I at least was able to get some work done today, to be a bit productive.

And now I have reached the end of what’s been written so far. Only a few days ago, I was hoping there would be more! I must find a way to get notified of new parts. Luckily, I also now have more to read in A Court for Crows, 3 new parts of that.
