Gallery Growth

My Gallery

Even after all that I did to get my Gallery working again, turns out it still wasn’t doing what I wanted. What good is a gallery if all you can see is the thumbnail? So I’ve installed yet another plugin, NextGEN Gallery, which will allow me to get the lightbox effect I wanted. And it makes managing the gallery so much easier.

It’s also possible I may be able to use this for my Featured Photo block in my posts. I’ll give it a try today and see how it does. I may have to continue what I was doing, but I’m not happy with the way it works. Currently I’m using an Advanced Gutenberg block to display the image and allow for a lightbox.

The problem with that is the thumbnail is bad. It doesn’t show the whole image so it’s always off-center. It’s a bit strange the way it works. I don’t know if I have any use for the plugin’s other functions, so I want to get rid of it if I won’t be using it. When I tried disabling the plugin to see what would happen it was not pretty.

If NextGEN can do what I was using Advanced Gutenberg for I will have to go back through and redo the Featured Image on a few blog posts. I guess we’ll see how things go!

Nope

Well, seems getting a single image posted via NextGEN would be a pain. I’d literally have to create a gallery for each individual image. I’m not gonna do that. Maybe there’s some other plugin I can use. I guess I’ll keep using Advanced Gutenberg for now.

Our Pool

So our pool is a little interesting. It has a little run-off waterfall thing to a lower pool. It looks nifty when it’s running. But recently one of our pumps died and we haven’t gotten a replacement. So for the last few weeks the water in the lower pool has been getting a little yucky.

Today I ran the vacuum and hose down to the lower pool to suck up the water and send it through the system. This will allow the water to circulate and clean. Took me a little while I get it all working right since the skimmers are labeled weirdly.

Power’s Out

Well, while I was busy working on our pool the power went out. Luckily our battery backups keep the internet running, even though we have no service on our phones. Just have to wait for the power to come back to let that water circulate more. Oops, turns out the suction became a siphon without power and the lower pool overflowed a little bit.

Two Hours Later

And now power is back on! Let’s hope it lasts. Got the pool cycling again too. Looks like it needs some chlorine . . . I think the chlorinator might not be working right.

Out and About

Did a little running around today. Went and cleared some stuff through customs, checked on some villas, and even did a couple pickups from the ferry. Last one was a late pickup, got a big (50lb) bag of sodium bicarbonate.

Featured Image

Today’s featured image is this morning’s sunrise. Before the sun actually showed over the horizon it lit the clouds in a spectacular way. I love the way the light plays on the clouds and the shadows cast in the sky.
