Partial Lockdown Week 4

Partial Lockdown Day 20 (Monday)

Curfew

We’re entering the home stretch! If things go according to plan the curfew will be lifted this week. We expect to be freed on Wednesday, but with the way things work they will probably loosen restrictions and not lift them altogether. We will just have to wait and see how things go for this partial lockdown.

Work

Did the usual Monday morning routine. Ran over to my nemesis to check on the water. Decided to turn off the automatic cistern fill, just to see what difference that makes. Then it was off to the house on the hill for the usual twice-weekly check. After that it was a stop by two more houses, nothing special to report.

Partial Lockdown Day 21 (Tuesday)

Curfew

So, today is supposed to be the last day of this partial lockdown. Not sure what that means exactly. We do have guests scheduled for one of our houses tomorrow that the intern booked. Not a major thing though, but I’ll have to get the pool ready. Not really sure if we’re even allowed to have guests, the government has been going on and on about all kinds of businesses prepping for coming out of curfew, but has completely neglected to say anything about lodging.

Work

As usually I ran down to my nemesis to check on the water situation there. Once that was done it was off to touch up the leaky pool and its brother for the guests coming tomorrow. I added a bit of water but there wasn’t any cleaning to do. The house is definitely not ready for guests. All the furniture is in, the beds aren’t made, etc. I’ve warned the intern but this is her thing, so she can figure it out.

Game Development

Man, I really do need to do this every day. I’m so rusty after only a week of not working. The internet went out for about fifteen minutes so I decided to work on my game. But I don’t know how to do anything without looking it up. I’m still so unfamiliar with the language and everything that I need the reference materials.

Partial Lockdown Day 22 (Wednesday)

Curfew

Well, I’m not sure whether we’re still on lockdown or not. They implemented a new curfew order for two weeks. This one allows more businesses to open and extends our freedom for four more hours. I mean, I guess we’re still on a partial lockdown, just a less restrictive one. . . I mean, we are still supposed to stay home.

Work

Sent my handyman off to do some exterminating today. I ran out to do my water check. The intern is getting a house ready for guests. Then I went out to try to get my work permit renewed (again). But I seem to still need some forms from Social Security and NHI as well as another form I didn’t know about from Inland Revenue. According to the lady at the SS office the earliest my form will be in is some time next week, even though it’s been nearly two months waiting.

Game Development

I tried, I really did. Jumped into Unity and tried to work on the game. I just can’t seem to get into the right head space to do it. I did, sort of, accomplish something though. So even though I only spent a few minutes working on it, it is progress nonetheless. Except maybe when you screw something up so badly that you have to roll back everything.

Partial Lockdown Day 23 (Thursday)

Work

Started off normal, got the handyman running around doing more exterminating. I ran out to check on my nemesis, then met up with the housekeeper. We went over a couple things for today and next week. A very light work day for me.

Restocking

Hit up a grocery store today. Surprisingly empty, of people and food. I saw yesterday they had a container so I assumed there would be stock on the shelves. Some stuff was stocked, but others not at all. I really should be used to this by now.

Partial Lockdown Day 24 (Friday)

Pools

Finally a pool day without the hurry. I started off down in Crooks Bay, did my usual walkthroughs and started adding water as needed to the pools there. Then I got to work on my nemesis. An hour later and the pool was looking better, but still not good. I added a ton of chlorine, then headed home for a water break.

Once I was hydrated I headed to the house on the hill. I took the cover off the pool and let it breathe a bit while I checked out the house. Then it was on to the amazing house, my old house, and the easy house. As expected, there wasn’t too much to do at those places. I was actually finished and home just in time for lunch.

Partial Lockdown Day 25 (Saturday)

Work

Just a simple bit of work, running down to my nemesis to take my daily water meter reading. This is getting old, hopefully I have enough data so I can stop.

Restocking

After that I ran out to a couple grocery stores and was actually able to pick up food! Still a lot on my list that I want, but I did get some things I’ve been missing.

Partial Lockdown Day 26 (Sunday)

Ugh, I did not sleep well last night. I don’t know why but I just couldn’t fall asleep. It was after midnight before I finally passed out. Luckily, today is my usual Sunday. Nothing to do, just some laundry and my usual morning run to my nemesis. I think I’ll be done doing that soon, it’s becoming extremely bothersome.

I have been binge watching Ratched since it was released, just finished it. Very good show! I never read the book, I think it was required reading in school, but somehow I never had to read a lot of that. Luck? Whatever, there’s a lot of classics people were forced to read in school that just never crossed my path. Anyway, the show is great, I hope there’s more.

Game Development

I jumped back into working on the game finally. No wonder I took a break. I’m reaching a very complicated spot where I have a ton of stuff working in a way that I designed it but not the way I need it now. So I have four scripts I’m jumping between to fix and correct and simplify and expand. They all tie in to each other, so it’s a delicate procedure that’s taking time. I just have to keep plugging away at it every day for a little while and I’ll get it done.

This week’s featured image is a photo I took at the old house. Back when I first moved in, and it was still in bad shape from Irma. The place is much better now.
