Three Weeks at a Time

Working Early (Monday)

Work

Started early this morning. Was running around before 9am. First I went to unlock a villa for the housekeepers and handyman, then I dropped off some cash to pay a guy, and finally I stopped by the government building to pay the water bills. But as it turns out, the water department’s system was still down so I can’t pay, and it’s been weeks since they were due! Then I had to run around again to go buy supplies that the housekeeper needed and bring it to them.

Accounting

Once I got back home from all the running around I quickly entered all the data in QuickBooks. A few receipts, payment to the guy, rent checks for some long term rentals, etc. Didn’t take too long to do. I have a feeling I REALLY need to get in this habit of just entering everything as soon as I can. Really it will make life easier if I do that instead of letting it pile up.

Work Continued

Ugh, so the handyman called me to tell me the solar tanks are spraying water again! Got everything shut off and called the plumber to come work on it again. We have guests in there in just a couple of days and that shit needs to be working. It seems that the water in the tanks is just getting so hot that it’s melting the seals on the pipes and causing them to disconnect.

One Hot Morning (Tuesday)

Power’s Out

Early this morning power cut randomly for like an hour right as I was ready to eat breakfast and shower. Luckily it came back up in time to get it all done before I had to start my work. Without power I had issues though because this house gets so hot without fans.

Work

Once I was ready to go, I started my day with running to check on those solar tanks. Still nothing happening there, so I called the plumber and he assures me it will be taken care of today. I really hope he gets it done because we have guests tomorrow! Then of course, later in the day nothing was done and he assures me he’ll get it working first thing tomorrow. . . .

Accounting

After that I buckled down and got some accounting done. Actually, I got all the accounting done. Put in all the checks that were waiting (just a few). Reconciled our accounts for September. Put in the employee timesheets. And I got the profit and loss report for the company for September sent out. It feels good to stay on top of the accounting.

Minecraft

I have begun the long process of converting a newly located guardian temple into a guardian farm. It is taking quite a while, but it’s not too much work. There’s a lot of resource gathering needed, which means travelling between bases.

Water Works (Wednesday)

Work

Started with my nemesis today. I headed out early to check on the plumber working on the solar tanks. Seems it is finally done and working. After the plumber was done I got to work on the pool. I put a lot of work into it today. Total vacuum and scrub down. Of course, turns out the guests coming aren’t gonna arrive until tomorrow.

Accounting

After I was done with that I got on a call with the roommate to go over numbers for September. Spent a good couple hours discussing the reports, expenses, and stuff. Got our reports on the same page, so our numbers all match up. Then, after that was done I put together a new P&L for the company and sent that off to the shareholders. I accidentally sent it out yesterday without pool income.

Minecraft

Well, I did it. I got the overworld side of the guardian farm completed. Barely got it done before bedtime, but I did do a little work on the nether side too. Just placed the portals, nothing much beyond that. While I was busy with all that my friend decided to completely redo the entire path to the farm.

Thirsty (Thursday)

Minecraft

Spent a bit of time this morning before work completing the nether portion of the guardian farm. Well, mostly completing it. It’s basically missing a sorting and brewing system. Other than that it’s totally ready to roll. Hmm, how can I build a brewing system in the nether . . . Maybe I should make that part of the overworld side since it requires water . . .?

Work

Not a whole lot on the docket today. I added a house to the slider on our company home page. The old house we lived at, since we’re starting to take reservations again. I ran into some serious issues with it because the whole interface changed in a recent update. Turns out there’s a spot that can scroll but doesn’t show a scroll bar! Bad design . . .

Minecraft

I finished the guardian farm (mostly)! There’s still a sorting system needed, but that’s about all. And man, that thing is fast. Like, in the time it takes to brew potions to kill the guardians, it fills up with enough mobs to lag you out like crazy. Of course, the sorting system I had built before broke somehow too. Like, the redstone wasn’t updating anymore for some reason. Had to basically tear it all out and redo it to fix it. Removed all the repeaters, comparators, and redstone torches.

Pool Day Again (Friday)

Pools

Once again, time to do the pools. Mostly easy work once again. The amazing house is still having issues with its chlorinator though. Not sure exactly what I’m going to have to do to fix it, but hopefully I can get it figured out. Didn’t fight my nemesis, just did it Wednesday to prep for the guests, so it’s good until next week.

Weekend (Saturday & Sunday)

Minecraft

Another work-free weekend (mostly). I spent a ton of time playing more Minecraft. Didn’t really do a ton. I reconfigured the downstairs of the sorting system to better deal with overflow. There is still a lot to do down there though, so far it just automatically cooks food. I need to add in the automatic ore smelting and block cooking.

Work

On Sunday I spent a short while stopping by a villa. Guests checked out, so I had to check on trash and make sure things were off. All was good though, so I didn’t have to do anything.

Carnival Row

On Sunday I binged Carnival Row. Good show, quite entertaining. I wish they had more though, I feel like it just didn’t go deep enough. Of course they have all the time in the world to expand on the world.

Bank Day (Monday)

Tortola

So it was time to head to the bank again. Ran out of petty cash and have a couple checks to deposit. So I headed to the ferry and things were a bit different. I guess their boat is being serviced or something, so this one was nothing like the usual. It was all luxurious. Bench seating arranged unlike a ferry, little tables, etc.

And of course, after arriving my first stop was the Watering Hole for breakfast and a mimosa while preparing my checks. Some local commented on it and was annoying. Couldn’t fully understand him (and I wasn’t really paying attention) but it was some sort of joke about me writing him a check or something.

Bank

The line at the bank wasn’t the worst but it wasn’t great either. Ended up standing in line for about 45 minutes. Luckily, the teller was pretty quick. Got my cash, deposited two checks, then headed on to the next bank. This was the quick drop off again. Got done just in time to get back to the ferry dock. The boat back was the same one from earlier.

Tuesday

Work

It was a slow day today. I had to run out and check on a couple things, do some grocery shopping. One villa’s owner is coming in soon, so I have to prepare a small instruction sheet for the stereo. Another house’s pump was having some issues, so I had to check on it.

Mental Health

Not really sure what it is, but today I just didn’t feel great mentally. I had to really push myself to even get the things done that I did. I’m really having motivation issues lately. Can’t bring myself to get much of anything taken care of. I couldn’t even bring myself to get the post up for last week so I ended up covering two weeks instead of one.

Entertainment

Other than that, I spent the rest of the day binge watching the first season of The Purge. The show really isn’t all that bad. There’s a few things about it that bother me, but overall I’ve enjoyed it and look forward to the upcoming second season.

Wednesday

Work

Started out a bit earlier than normal to get some accounting done. I’ve still got to run out and finish that instruction sheet today. I was hoping I could do it easier with just some labels, but we don’t have any white labels for the machine, only clear, and that won’t work.

So I ran by there in the morning with my laptop and typed up some instructions. Went back home and prettied them up a bit, fixed a few things, then printed it out, and slid it into a protective sheet. After lunch I dropped the instructions off and spent a bit of time testing all the ACs and double-checking the villa. All seems ready for the owner’s arrival tomorrow.

Then it was on to do some pest control. Seems we have a couple wasp nests popping up at one house. I stopped by the grocery store and got some spray and then headed over and unloaded on the buggers. Hopefully that takes care of any problems.

Accounting

Once back at home, I spent a little while adding new transactions into QuickBooks. It wasn’t a lot of work, but I got receipts from the intern to enter as well. I’m sure there’s more that needs to be entered, but that can wait until next time.

Thursday

Work

Work started a bit early today. I had to run out before breakfast to a nearby villa to unlock it for some work that’s to be done. Then after breakfast I had to run back out there again to meet the guys doing work. Once that was taken care of it was time to direct the handyman to some things he needed to do.

And of course later came my nemesis. We’ve got guests checking in today, so the pool needed to be spiffy for them. It was a decent amount of work to get it in shape. Of course, while I was there I had to take care of an issue with an umbrella. Once everything was done I was exhausted and soaked with sweat.

Pool Day (Friday)

Pools

Another Friday, so pools again. Checked on the leaky pool, but mostly just left it to do what it does since it still needs work. After that I did an extra good job at the next pool. Owner is coming in tomorrow so I want it to be as good as it can get. Even shocked it for extra clean. Then it was on to the amazing house. That thing is still having issues with its chlorinator. Pretty sure there’s nothing I can do to get it to work without parts.

After a lunch break I skipped my nemesis (since I did it yesterday) and went to the old house. Still looking nasty. Once per week service is hard to get a pool back into shape. But I pulled out the filter and cleaned it and shocked the pool and added tabs and hopefully things will start clearing up.

Weekend (Saturday & Sunday)

Work

So I know I did a little bit of work on Saturday, but for the most part I can’t remember what. I dealt with paying one of our housekeepers and gave her a ride when she was done cleaning. Other than that, I have no idea what I did, but I know I did more work than that.

Minecraft

Other than that, the rest of the weekend was basically spent playing Minecraft. My friend and I prettied up stuff around the guardian farm. We built a nice way down from the portal to the killing chamber and finished the cart path to it. I also made a slight change to it so I can turn it off as needed.

Back to Work (Monday)

Motivation

So I’m still not feeling it, and haven’t gotten a new photo for this post yet. Because of that I’m including ANOTHER week. This will be three weeks in one post, can you handle it? Did you even make it this far?

Sleep

Ugh, I did not sleep worth a damn last night. I kept waking up and just couldn’t keep my mind off the work to do. Not that there’s a whole lot to do, but I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. I woke up so tired and just can’t get myself going today.

Work

Started out work with payroll. Payed myself and the intern. Put some stuff in QuickBooks. Then I ran out and paid the monthly taxes. Luckily that wasn’t so bad. Got ahold of a guy about a fridge, hopefully he can take care of the issue with it. Was pretty much done with the work stuff around lunch time.

Tuesday

Work

Had some long term renters vacate a property over the weekend and it’s time to get it ready for the vacation season. So this morning I went over there with my handyman and looked over the place. They left the place a mess, and there’s repair work to do too. Left the handyman with a bunch to do today, and hopefully we’ll find more to fill his time the rest of the week.

Wednesday

Work

It was a rather slow day today. I spent a bit of time doing more accounting. I spent a while going over the upcoming schedule for the next month or so too. Got some ducks in a row and added all the current stuff into the Wunderlist to keep track of.

Thursday

Work

Finally got the housekeepers into the house that was vacated by the long term renters. So that meant I had to run around and buy them all kinds of supplies. They ended up staying there for many hours. I also worked on accounting more, and met up with the plumber about the leaky pool. Gonna finally get it fixed, hopefully.

Projects

So with the move to our new, permanent* house coming in the next few weeks I’ve been putting together plans for some projects I’m totally going to start. So I’ve updated my projects list with the new ideas, like a simple swamp cooler. I also finally put together a list of plants to grow on a new gardening page.

Pool Day Again (Friday)

Pools

Pools weren’t too bad this week. Still having an issue with the chlorinator at the amazing house. Skipped my nemesis too since the guests didn’t want maid service this week. Our old house’s pool is still a mess, but I added a bunch of chlorine to it, so that should clear it up nicely. Talked to the owner at another house of ours, that was the pool that took the longest.

Met up with a plumber after all that was over to talk about the leaky pool. He seems pretty confident he’ll be able to repair the problem. Hopefully it won’t be long before everything’s done there and I don’t have to worry about it anymore.

Saturday

Work

Saturday was a bit of work. I had to run out and get paint from the ferry. Two 5-gallon buckets and another couple gallons of stain. After delivering that I went to another villa to deal with a grocery delivery for guest arrival. The delivery guys were late, so I didn’t even get everything put away before the guests got there. Then another guest came by (twice) to check in and print off boarding passes.

Sunday

Minecraft

Sunday was a day full of Minecraft. Actually I’ve been playing a lot of Minecraft that I haven’t talked about yet, so lemme just fill you in. Found a skeleton spawner and have converted it into a drop grinder. I’ve also completed the next level of the sorting system with automatic smelting for many items.

Unfortunately, my choice to use bamboo for fuel is a bit of a bad idea. It takes so much bamboo to smelt a single item. But so far it’s been working okay, and I’ve got it setup to use overflow coal (when we have that much) for fuel.

This week’s featured image is a cool looking whirlpool that formed in a plunge pool at one of our villas. It was just so cool looking I had to get a picture to share.
