Weary Week

Sunday

Lazy, Weary, and Bushed

A day off. . . it was okay. I spent way too much time in the company of the roommate. Nothing against her, I just really need alone time to recharge. Been feeling pretty tired lately, no matter how much I try to rest. I really didn’t do a whole lot, just a bit of Factorio (nothing worth posting about) and reading the internet.

Monday

QuickBooks

It is done! I have all the data entered, hopefully correctly. Found so many little mistakes that the roommate made on her invoices over the course of all this. I had been dreading the last little bit of entering the tax payments, but once I played around with it (and removed the garbage that was put in previously) it clicked with me.

No more fear now of entering the payments for accommodation tax. I feel like I have a pretty good handle on most things when it comes to keeping the books. I’m sure some things will still need to be fixed or adjusted, but overall it feels good to get it done.

Work

The roommate and the intern came back from their trip to Tortola and brought me chemicals! Yay, I can properly test pools again. I will need to get me some more eventually, especially the one they could only get in the tiny bottle.

Cultist Simulator

I just found out they have released this game for Android! And it’s on sale. . . Even though I own it for PC, I just had to buy it for my phone. I feel like it will be a good offline game to play. Also means I may put more work into my guide.

Tuesday

Work

Fought my nemesis again today. It was a long and hard battle, but in the end I won. It took a lot of vacuuming and scrubbing, every surface was hit with each. I even backwashed it more than once. Overall, I spent more time working on that pool than I usually do, and hopefully it will make a difference.

Cultist Simulator

So after a few issues getting the game installed on my phone I finally gave it a try. It plays pretty well, although I’ve basically forgotten pretty much everything about the game. I’ve only spent a few minutes playing it overall, but so far I haven’t lost.

Game Development

I’ve had it in my head for a long time that I’d like to make my own game (or even games). I’ve had so many ideas in the past about what I’d like to make. Today I wrote a blog entry in regards to this. Stop on by, have a look if you haven’t, and leave me some comments!

Taxes

Finally got around to doing my taxes. I hope I did them right, but who knows. Every year they get a little more complicated. . . I am getting money back this year though, so that’s good, I guess.

Wednesday

Accounting

I reached out to the accountant to schedule our next meeting. I scanned in a bunch of bank statements and emailed a link off to her to view those with the invoices we’ve sent off to owners. Who knows if she’ll actually look at those.

Thursday

Prose

When I woke up this morning, I had an idea. Not sure if it was just a wandering mind or something from a dream. I wanted to record it, write it down or something. I was going to use text-to-speech to start a draft with my phone, but I couldn’t get logged into this site for some reason. Now, it is mostly lost.

Projects

I’ve made a small change to my Projects page. Added a couple of things, organized things a little bit more. I’ve got ideas, things I want to do. I still need a lot of supplies to get pretty much anything done, but for now I can collect my ideas and organize them for later use.

Home

So, with the owner of this villa having come visit, it’s looking like we’ll be moving sometime in the next six months or so. That’s actually a good thing, this place isn’t made for long term. It’s vacation villa and is built to be such. So we’ve got a place in mind to move to, and it will be great. It will give me a better place to relax, setup, whatever.

Gems of War

Not sure if I’ve mentioned it before, but there’s a game called Gems of War for the Switch. It’s free, or at least it was, the page on the Nintendo site isn’t accessible anymore. Anyway, it’s a port of a free-to-play mobile game. It’s actually kinda fun if you like puzzle games. I’ve been playing it a decent amount in my free time.

Friday

Pools

Pool day is once again upon me. This time I have all my testing chemicals again. I’ll be continuing training the handyman to do it while I’m away in a couple of weeks. Of course, pool day was interrupted by a power outage. . .

Power’s Out

Turns out that because Gems of War has microtransactions it must be online to play . . . Which I can’t do without power. So instead I loaded up Cultist Simulator on my tablet and played for a while. Love the game, totally getting back into the swing of things.

Pools, Continued . . .

Once power was back on (and lunch consumed) I headed back out to finish the pools. Stopped by my nemesis to finish vacuuming it, gave it a bit of a scrub. I call it a win. I left the handyman there prepping the villa for tomorrow’s guest while I ran up to take care of the amazing house. No one was home, so I did that one quick, just a check, balance, and skim with minor scrubbing. No vacuuming necessary.

Upgrade

So, I’ve done it, I ordered a new laptop which will be waiting for me in Atlanta when I get there in a couple of weeks. I’ve been watching deals lately, and settled on a Dell gaming laptop. 15.6″ display, 8GB ram, Intel i5, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD (only 5400 rpm though), 4GB GeForce GTX 1050. This is not top of the line, but should allow me to play more intense games, as well as hopefully make some videos again.

Saturday

Factorio

Played more Factorio with my coffee and breakfast. Actually been playing a little here and there throughout the week. Problem is, not much has happened. It’s basically a waiting game because my laptop is reaching its limit, running around 20fps at this point which slows everything down.

Work

Got guests arriving today for the villa next door. So, in the afternoon I headed over and attacked my nemesis again. The fight was short, not a lot to do. Just skimmed it and removed a lot of leaves. It’s been really windy lately, so that throws crap around.

Featured Image

Today’s featured image is some rough seas. With all the wind lately, the ocean has been really choppy most of the week. I just love the way the waves keep crashing in.
