Thanks For Visiting

Analytics

Now that I’m actually trying to draw people in to view the site it’s time to look at Google Analytics to find out more about my traffic. Unfortunately, the only thing I’ve learned is that the few visitors appear to be bots. Session duration of zero seconds, immediately bouncing. Oh well, eventually I’m sure I’ll get a real person to visit the site.

The Projects Project

So I realized that my last two entries in The Projects Project really had nothing to do with that. As I mentioned in Share This I have now added a new category for site updates. I’ve shuffled blog posts a little bit to the appropriate category and removed them from the inappropriate series. I will be going back to The Projects Project though, still a lot to do getting all my previously unfinished projects moved to this site.

Dreary Day

The rain has been steady for a while now. Lightening occasionally, but fairly constant since it began. The horizon is hazy with incoming rain, a reminder that it isn’t going away anytime soon. The air isn’t moving much, which will keep the clouds pouring on us for a while.

Eventually, the sky cleared up a bit and the rain dissipated. By early afternoon there was no more rain. Even as night closed in and the clouds came back, the rain did not.

Work

One of our long-term guests ended up checking out a week early. We headed out there to check on the housekeeper and pick over whatever groceries were left. I ended up with mango jam, olives, and some minced garlic.

Social Media

Well, I’ve found an issue with my social media automatic publishing. Something is causing duplicate posts to social media. It also seems that updating an older post will cause the plugin to share that post. I’ll have to do some digging.

Gutenberg

Further research indicates it to be an issue with Gutenberg. This thing is trouble. I actually like using it as an editor but there are so many bugs associated with it. Not all plugins play nice with it, some features of plugins just disappear, and every time I erase a word with backspace it automatically removes the preceding space! Eventually all these things will be fixed, I’m sure, but for now it’s a pain in my ass.

Reading

So I found another good story to read on /r/bestOfWritingPrompts. It’s an epic tale about a common man given infinite time to prevent a rogue planet from obliterating the earth. Read it here. There really are some creative people on Reddit. I hope one day I’ll have something I feel worthy of sharing there.
