Not a whole lot of work today. I ran out to close up one house that was vacated and check on another. Besides that I had to deal with a payment issue for internet because I screwed something up, I think.
Two different grocery stores today, one specific goal. Neither store had what I wanted, but I did end up walking out of the second one with a loaf of bread.
Keeping that streak alive! I picked right back up where I left off yesterday and spent a good few hours working on a couple of very small things. I actually got it working too! Basically, I’ve made it so that I can make things go black and white and/or have a glowing border surrounding them. The whole idea is something like Batman’s detective mode in the Arkham games.
Got the employees situated this morning. Opened up the house, got them supplies, directed them on a few things, etc. The guests were a bit rough on the house, but the employees will get it all taken care of
Lots done today! I’ve got the basics of a character controller setup, although I have to completely redo it eventually. I also got an animation controller setup. The two of those together with what I’ve done before leaves me with a decently working little game. Of course, there’s still A LOT to do. I’m just so proud of how far things have come so far.
Spent a boatload of money (not really), ran around all over the place, and still didn’t get everything done. I did get some more pool chemicals, but not all that I need. I found a food scale finally. Been looking for one of those for months! I went to drop off a check but the place wasn’t open. Overall, it’s been a pretty productive day.
Finally got a kitchen scale, so now I’m starting a sourdough starter! Not much to say about it, I’m following this guide. Not much to say about it yet, it’s just some flour and water in a peanut butter jar.
I know it’s been a while since I’ve mentioned my garden. It’s still a thing. I’ve got three pepper plants growing, one has peppers. There’s a jalapeno plant, although it’s not in a big enough container so it’s a bit stunted. I’ve got a couple of new tomato plant sprouts, some mixed flowers to bring in the pollinators, and now I have a new pot and soil for more plants!
Continued my streak again, but didn’t actually get anything done on the game. I basically updated the art assets I’m using, which took a while. I ended up completely redoing one of my tile palettes because the artist is offering a new format. The new method makes updating easier. Just mean I had to remove and recreate a couple thousand tiles and remake one of my palettes.
Got things going this morning. Got the employees working, dropped off some payments, took care of some other things. Just the usual kind of thing. Not too much worth mentioning.
Picked up another long planter today, this one’s for more flowers. I’d like to put it on the porch near-ish the door once the flowers have started growing. Dropped in some lavender and chamomile seeds, just hope they actually grow. Put down some more tomato seeds to germinate. Got a BIG pot I want to plant one in.
Didn’t do anything with it today, but wow, that stuff really grew! Gotta wait until tomorrow for the first feeding.
I didn’t exactly get much done today. Definitely didn’t do what I was planning on. Don’t get me wrong, I got stuff done, and it was related to what I wanted, it just wasn’t quite it. I updated some assets, began working on the intro sequence, but the work was mostly centered around correcting and streamlining stuff I did before. Just had to get it right before I could actually do what I wanted.
Pool Day (Friday)
Wow, lots of extra hard work today. One of my longest pool days in a while. Most of the time was spent on my nemesis. I started at the old place, did a thorough vacuum and scrub. Then I moved onto my nemesis. Still not looking great. By the time I was done, the color was so much better, even if it was a little cloudy. I started with a balance and a good vacuum. Then I used some filter cleaner. Had to let that sit for an hour, so during that time I went and got lunch, walked the dog, and scrubbed the pool a bit. Once it was time to flush the filter, the water flow was so much better.
After that was the easy pool. Gave it a bit of a vacuum. Had to clean the junction screen twice! In one day. . . Usually I only have to clean it once a month. Then it was time to head up the hill to the new pool. It was in decent shape, just had to add a bit of sodium bicarb. After that was the leaky pools, which were in a mostly decent shape. Just had to add a bit of chlorine.
So, I’m pretty sure I haven’t really said anything before about this, but I’ve been streaming every day on my Twitch channel. Usually, it’s while I’m working in Unity. Occasionally I have a viewer, talk to them, etc. Today, I didn’t do any game dev, so killed my streak. I was just so exhausted from the physical labor of the pools. Instead I played Oxygen Not Included and streamed that. So I was able to at least keep the streaming streak alive.
I did a small amount of work this morning. I ran out and checked on the pools. Just the ones at the vacant houses. I don’t know why, I didn’t need to, but because I spent so long working ono them yesterday I felt I should.
Two grocery stores, barely any groceries. First one didn’t seem soo busy from the outside, but inside it was full of people. Ended up in a line flour people deep to check out. And I was only picking up three things! Went to another store, picked up a few more things but nothing too important.
Did the usual Saturday accounting. Felt like there was more to enter than normal. Didn’t really take long though, and there wasn’t anything too complicated.
Got back into the swing of things. Didn’t get a whole lot done, again, but I did work more on the opening sequence. Some was actual work while the rest was just making ToDo notes on how things should work.
So, I didn’t do any game development today but I did stream on Twitch. I played Oxygen Not Included all day long. . . I’m doing pretty good in this colony. No permanent deaths yet. I did load a couple of times to resurrect a dupe that died for stupid reasons though.
